OPYOW's Mission

With the help of parents and educators around the nation, THE MISSION of Operation Pull Your Own Weight is to naturally eliminate childhood obesity within one decade or less.

THE MEANS to accomplishing OPYOW's mission is to help 95% of all school aged kids learn to perform conventional pull ups BEFORE THEY GRADUATE because kids who can perform pull ups can never be obese!

When that goal is reached, childhood obesity will be all but eliminated, and transformed into a phenomenon to read about in the ancient history books like polio and the black plague.

The benefits of such an achievement would be infinite and incalculable.

And by the way, it's already started to happen, across America...one child, one family, and one school at a time.

OPYOW Mission Statement #2: Contagious Strength

The mission of OPYOW as an organization is to help everyone we touch, everyone we work with, to grow a little stronger this week than last, a little stronger this month than last, and a lot stronger this year than last. That begins with the kids who are naturally immunizing themselves against obesity for life.
But it continues on to include the adult supervisors who set the stage for the kids, the organizations (schools, park districts, Scouts, Boys and Girl’s Clubs, YMCA’s and churches) who host and implement the program, the corporate sponsors who fund the program, as well as the neighborhoods, towns, counties, and states that celebrate and enthusiastically applaud the tangible results of OPYOW.
In other words, whether we’re talking about an individual kid or an adult supervisor, a local institution or a corporate sponsor, a municipality or a state, when they connect with OPYOW they should all expect to grow stronger (in all kinds of ways) as the result of that connection, that relationship. And as those strength producing relationships begin to grow exponentially, we all become exponentially stronger at the same time. We begin to create a synergy in which the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts. We call this phenomenon Contagious Strength.
