About Rick Osbourne…

Rick Osbourne has his Masters in Physical Education, (Western Illinois University, Macomb, IL) and has spent seventeen years in the teaching ranks. Four of those years he spent designing, organizing, implementing, and overseeing a fitness oriented, childhood obesity prevention program called Operation Pull Your Own Weight at Jefferson Elementary School in Davenport, IA.

With the explosion in childhood obesity in recent years, Osbourne began to feel the need to tell others about his OPYOW experiences at Jefferson School in the nineties. In an effort to accomplish that goal he launched an informational web site designed to give interested parties, (be they parents, teachers, educational administrators, or coaches), all the information they would need to NATURALLY IMMUNIZE KIDS AGAINST OBESITY FOR A LIFETIME, WITHOUT RESORTING TO PILLS, SHOTS, OR SPECIAL DIETS.

As the Executive Director of Operation Pull Your Own Weight, and an active practitioner of this anti obesity strategy himself, Osbourne consults with organizations, and gives power point presentations designed to show adults how to immunize the kids they work with against obesity for a lifetime by teaching them how to pull their own weight on the pull up bar and in all kinds of other ways.

Osbourne earned his BA (Physical Education and Journalism) at Northern Illinois University, his MA (Sports History and Philosophy) at Western Illinois University, and he did post graduate work (Sports History and Philosophy) at Arizona State University. He’s been married for 33 years, and with his wife and kids, has lived in the western suburbs of Chicago for over two decades.
